Frequently Asked
Questions

Everything you need to know about AccuScan DP, de-identified workflows, implementation, compliance, and patient support.

Privacy & Compliance
Patient information is automatically de-identified before scan data leaves the facility. AccuScan DP supports a HIPAA-aligned workflow designed for VA and DoD healthcare environments.
The scan file transmitted for fabrication does not contain patient-identifying information. The patient's identity remains within the facility. Our team receives only the foot scan and the prescription and accommodations the provider selects.
Yes. AccuScan DP was specifically designed to meet the compliance requirements of federal healthcare environments. We are FDA Registered (RN #3015146490) and SAM registered (CAGE: 9PXW1). It was also recognized as Most Improved Product by the VA Podiatry Nationally, validating its effectiveness in VA settings.
Implementation
AccuScan DP is a turn-key program. The scanning system arrives pre-configured, training is provided by the 3D Orthotics team, and ongoing support is included. Once training is complete, providers can begin scanning patients in minutes.
AccuScan DP is designed to minimize facility IT involvement. The iPad arrives pre-configured with the software already installed, and patient information is automatically de-identified before scan data is transmitted for fabrication. We provide implementation support, training, and documentation to help facilities through onboarding. Any review requirements are determined by the facility's local IT, Biomed, and Cybersecurity teams.
A full patient foot scan takes five minutes or less, from the patient sitting down to a completed scan file ready for transmission. Compared to traditional cast molding, it dramatically reduces chair time and eliminates the mess and curing wait of plaster or foam box methods.
Prosthetics & Workflow
After the patient's scan is completed and de-identified, the scan data and provider prescription are transmitted for fabrication. Custom orthotics are manufactured to the provider's specifications using the digital scan and prescribed accommodations.
3D Orthotics coordinates patient follow-up, delivery verification, and support throughout the process. Our team works directly with the Veteran on delivery, fit verification, and any questions about their orthotics, reducing the administrative burden on clinic staff and Prosthetics departments.
If an adjustment is needed, the 3D Orthotics team coordinates directly with the patient, provider, and manufacturing team to evaluate the concern and arrange the appropriate modification. The goal is to resolve fit and comfort issues quickly while keeping the administrative load off providers and Prosthetics departments.
De-identified digital scanning built for federal facilities, a team focused on VA and DoD care, and hands-on partnership with your clinicians, not a faceless remote lab.
Orthotic Refurbishment
Yes. Refurbishment services help restore existing orthotics while reducing the need for a completely new device. Our team coordinates refurbishment requests, ordering requirements, delivery, and follow-up support.
Ordering & Delivery
Yes. In many cases, 3D Orthotics ships directly to the Veteran, with free shipping on completed orders. Prior to shipment, our team verifies the delivery information to help ensure accurate and timely delivery.
3D Orthotics stays involved after delivery, providing fit verification, patient follow-up, and adjustment coordination.
A purchase order authorizes the fabrication and delivery of the orthotic. Before shipment, the 3D Orthotics team verifies the shipping information associated with the PO to help ensure the orthotic reaches the correct Veteran and destination, which minimizes shipping delays and delivery errors.
Reach us directly by phone at (844) FOOT-911 or by email at Orders@3DOrthotics.com. We work with each facility individually to build a plan that fits your patient volume, specialty needs, and logistical requirements. There is no one-size-fits-all approach; every hospital engagement is custom.
Equipment & Device Management
Although AccuScan DP uses a de-identified workflow, equipment lifecycle management still matters. When the iPad is no longer needed, requires replacement, or is upgraded, the facility retains possession and control of the device. Before retirement or replacement, 3D Orthotics works with the facility to remove application data, terminate system access, and support the device transition in accordance with applicable VA facility requirements and local procedures. The goal is a smooth transition that protects patient privacy, data security, and program continuity.
During onboarding, the facility's Logistics or Equipment Management team may assign a barcode, asset tag, or inventory record to the AccuScan DP iPad in accordance with local procedures. When the iPad requires replacement, upgrade, retirement, or removal from service, the facility retains possession and control of the device. 3D Orthotics works directly with the facility to remove application data, terminate system access, and support the device transition per applicable facility requirements and local procedures.
